We are a busy, yet friendly Riding School. We are approved by the Local Authority, The British Horse Society, Association of British Riding Schools, FEI Clubmark and a The Pony Club Centre. We are the only riding school in the North West with all of these accreditations. Based just a few miles south west of Manchester in the Mersey valley green belt. We are situated in 450 acres of open countryside yet still close to the motorway network.

Our facilities include an indoor school and three, all weather, rubber surfaced outdoor floodlit menages with comfortable viewing facilities and cafe. We are the only riding school to have our own Racewood Dressage simulator the most advanced of its type in the world.

Our experienced and friendly staff can offer you riding lessons to suit all ages (upwards of 3) and abilities. All our horses and ponies are chosen for their suitable temperament and are fully trained to ensure both the safety and enjoyment of our customers.

During school holidays, we always offer a range of activities to both children and adults. You can check out what is available on this website. We also offer our very popular 'Pony Parties' and we recommend you book early.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMPETE BUT DON'T OWN YOUR OWN HORSE?

BHS COMPETITION FOR RIDING SCHOOL CLIENTS

We are very excited to announce that we have been asked by The British Horse Society to host a regional qualifier for their National Riding School Competition to be held next Easter, Wed 8th April 2015 at Warwickshire College.
We will be holding a qualifier show at Carrington Riding Centre on Friday 2nd January 2015 where the top 3 placed winners of each class will be offered the opportunity of competing at the National Competition.

The classes will be made up of mainly dressage, some jumping (for the under 12's) and some stable management and will be open to all riders from age 5 to adult riders. Classes will be grouped in age and ability (TBA)

To have a good chance of being chosen for the team, it is vital that you attend our mock show on Friday 21st Nov at 4.30pm or The Regional Qualifier to be held on Jan 2nd 2015.
This is a fabulous opportunity for riders who want to compete, and will attract important recognition for all the participants.

Rosettes awarded to all and the winner of each class will receive a trophy.

To have a good chance of being chosen for the team, it is vital that you attend this show, however non-attendance will not exclude you from competing at The Regional Qualifier to be held at CRC on Jan 2nd 2015

SADDLE CLUB- STARTS SATURDAY

The Saddle Club is a brand new club for children and young people from age 5-17 years old who love horses!
The Club aims to present an interesting and informative experience for all young people w...hatever their ability.
The Saddle Club objectives are:
• To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
• To give instruction in riding and horsemastership and to teach members to look after and to take proper care of their animal.
• To enable young people to understand how to work safely on a riding school yard and to achieve progressive qualifications
SESSIONS:

Saturday: 10am -12 noon- Mini Saddle Club
At Mini Saddle Club, children will work towards their Pony Club Efficiency tests starting at Test E. A half hour riding session will be included in every session.
Suitable for children aged 5-9 years old

Saturday: 2pm-4pm- Junior Saddle Club
At Junior Saddle Club, children will work towards their Pony Club Efficiency tests starting at Test D. A half hour riding session will be included in every session.
Suitable for children aged 10+

Saturday: 12pm-2pm- Senior Saddle Club
At Senior Saddle Club, young people will work towards their British Horse Society’s Riding School Assistants Certificate of Competence. A half hour riding session will be included in every session.
Suitable for young people aged 13+

Cost only £12 per session
All Saddle Club members will be required to join The Pony Club (£25 annual fee)
And wear a piece of uniform (Prices start from £8.99)

PONY CLUB- NEXT COURSE

NEW DOUBLE BADGE COURSE
Starting Monday Nov 10th 2014

 ACHIEVEMENT BADGES
  1. POINTS OF HORSE
This course will teach members to know the points of the horse, colours and markings
  2. EQUINE BEHAVIOUR
 Members will learn to be able to deal with ponies in and around the stable according to their behaviour and understand how and why they behave as they do under certain circumstances

 RIDING
This course will prepare riders to the next level according to the previous badge successfully undertaken by each rider. New members will start at Bronze Level 1.
Bronze, Silver and Gold badges are available at Levels 1, 2 & 3 and include riding and horsemastership (caring for and preparing a horse/pony for riding).
Progressive Riding Badges are challenging, we must emphasise that good attendance is needed for members to have a fair chance of success. The Pony Club requires 70% attendance to be entered for the badge therefore members must attend a minimum of 6/8 sessions.

Test Night – Mon 22nd Dec 2014 (usual fees and times apply)

YOUNG EQUESTRIANS & PONY CLUB

YOUNG EQUESTRIANS is a new initiative in partnership with HOOF to enable teenagers to get involved with horses and other like minded young people with the same interests.
 This is a great chance for teens to achieve and enjoy a social life at the same time!
 The new course will takes place every Monday night for a two hour session. Each session will consist of an hour working towards YELA (young equestrian leaders award), and then an hour’s riding and stable management on alternative weeks working towards ‘Pony Clubs’ efficiency awards.We will be starting with efficiency test D and then moving forward on a progressive basis.
 Times: 6pm-8pm
 The cost is only £12 per night (registration fees applicable).
 These awards are seriously recognised within the equine industry.
 Minimum age 13. Suitable for up to age 17.
 A great way to make friends with like minded young people who have a passion for horses!

BRAND NEW ROSETTE COURSE

ALL ABOUT NATIVE BREEDS, COLOURS & BEHAVIOUR!

All members will be able to recognise and identify 5 native breeds, know where they originate from, understand the physical characteristics and behaviour of the breed

RIDING
On the riding side, all members will carry on working towards their individual progressive riding standard.  

This is a 6 week course which will start on:
Sunday 30th November from 3pm-4.30pm.    
Suitable for ages 5 years-9 years
All abilities  including beginners welcome.

MORE GREAT NEWS FOR RIDERS & HORSE OWNERS

For the more confident rider you can join our British Riding Club.

Where we can provide accredited courses for adults who want to improve their riding and care skills and have a social with like minded people at the same time.

On this course we will be working towards the British Riding Clubs 'Riding & Horse Welfare' Stage 1. There will be a fun hack and a special dressage week included in the course.

This Club is open to HORSE OWNERS too who will be welcome to bring their own horse to the sessions.

The cost is only £25 for a 2 hour session and will include an hours riding in every session. Coffee and cakes will be provided after every session to enable you to interact with your fellow riders.

This is a great opportunity to belong to an established and recognised riding club as well as achieving recognised qualifications. Have fun and learn both at the same time.

TEEN PONY CLUB

A chance for teens to achieve!  Takes place every Monday night for a two hour session. DO YOU WANT TO RETURN TO RIDING AFTER A BREAK OR WOULD YOU JUST LIKE AN ADULT'S ONLY GROUP LESSON?

It’s never too late to rekindle or discover a love of horses, pick up that journey and enjoy riding...

Fitting horses back into your life can be simple. Just half an hour of horse riding a week can boost your sense of wellbeing and help to keep you feeling healthy. Returning to riding may feel daunting but with the right horse to give you confidence it’s amazing how quickly you’ll get going again.

So, what is it?
It’s a series of horse riding lessons providing individual and group coaching, specifically designed to support your first steps in order to get you into the saddle. It will help you develop your skills so that you can horse ride out, depending upon your skill and confidence levels, perhaps in the open countryside, improve your fitness, and progress within the sport, making sure you have fun along the way.

Horse riding is a hobby for people of all ages and abilities so there’s no need to use the excuse “I’m too old!” or “I’m not good enough”.

Come and join us for our next course which will be starting on Wed 27th Nov at 7pm, Sunday 30th Nov at 7pm The course will last for 7 weeks and will have no more than 6 riders in each group. The lessons will be made of half an hour horse preparation, 40 mins riding and preparing horses for return to the stables and 20 minutes social (tea & biscuits) to get to know your fellow riders and chat about experiences.

The cost per lesson is just £20 (payable in advance)
